19.05.2008 Aaron Seigo (aseigo): pretty.
Spring/summer is here, time for the flowers to bloom and the earth to teem with new life. Keeping with the times, KDE is about to go into feature freeze tomorrow so we can have a Summer child in the form of KDE 4.1 and all sorts of prettyness is showing up. 07.03.2016 We are digging a hole
Riccardo, this morning, at CERN showing a beatiful post As you have read in the last post, some funny things happen in the Cafè group of w2l; there are some other nice stories which deserve to be telled, but the one’s I’m going to talk about is different from the others. If you have read some of my post you would have understood I’m not mentally sane. Okay, no debate about this, please. One beatiful day I met a friend who destroyed my mental sanity. Then, I started spamming it overall. In the Cafè group, one nice night, I’ve posted a funny video, this: http://...

07.04.2008 Aaron Seigo (aseigo): in france
I'm in France right now. Toulouse, to be more precise. Kevin Ottens' (you may know him from Solid in KDE4) living room to be even more precise. It's 6:30 in the morning and Kevin and I are sitting here getting some work done early in the day so that we may go out a bit earlier in the afternoon to enjoy some of the city.I've already taken an ungodly number of pictures in my first day here as I play with my new toy: a Cannon EOS 400. I've never actually owned an SLR before, and there's much to learn, but I'm having fun with it. It's been great so far traveling with P.: we was awesome on the flig...

03.10.2016 Up In The Air
I still remember the very first time I flew. It was a hot March morning in 2002, when I bid goodbye to Kolkata and prepared to come face to face with the noisy little winged creatures that used to fly over our home. Jet Airways's flight 9W 201, which would leave Mumbai at 6 in the morning and be in Kolkata by 9, would take on more passengers and leave for Guwahati at 9:55. It would be at the Lokopriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport at Guwahati by 11 AM. Gate to gate, the flight would last an hour and five minutes. It would spend fifty of those minutes in the air. In about a month, I'm going to be t...

17.04.2008 Richard Dale: A Ruby Plasma Data Engine based on DBPedia SPARQL queries
I've been playing with using KIO::get() to make queries on the DBPedia SPARQL endpoint, parse the XML result set and convert it to be used by a Plasma Data Engine. I'll explain how it works as I think it is pretty useful and makes it very easy to link up applets with Semantic Web/Desktop data. This is the basic SPARQL query, it takes the name of an artist and retrieves details of all the albums they've made - the album name, the urn of the album's DBPedia resource, creation date and cover art picture:
