02.03.2012 Kubuntu 12.04 LTS Beta 1
This week I've been on Ubuntu release driver duty for Beta 1. Ubuntu has lots of flavours there days and they all need to be nudged to ensure they get their testing and announcements done in time. We only had a few hiccups, some of the flavours had to be respun late last night for fixes and do lots of testing today. Ubuntu (poor under-resourced flavour that it is) also didn't update their upgrade instructions in good time and some grumping at them was needed (sorry, I get grumpy quickly these days with my traumatised brain). Slashdot linked to the wrong URL for downloading Ubuntu CDs so I had...
11.07.2016 Multi-screen woes in Plasma 5.7
With Plasma 5.7 we promised improved multi-screen support. While we achieved that, some users are still experiencing issues. This is unfortunate and our users have all the reasons to be disappointed with us. We are working very hard to fix the issues which have been reported to us since the release. But there are many situations where users blame us for issues not under our control. With this blog post I want to describe some of the problems we got reported and explain them. Display hardware key not working In Bug 365147 a user reported that the notebook hardware key does not work. This is rat...
02.08.2008 VMware Fusion 2 Beta 2 Now Available
VMware often adds features during the beta cycle. You should always keep an eye out if a certain beta release doesn't yet include your heart's desire. The Fusion team has just released Beta 2 of Fusion 2, and has added...
03.03.2008 Thiago Macieira (thiago): Many new Qt releases
The former former Release Manager had a saying: The release is not out until you blog about it So I’m doing a 3-in-1 blog! Qt 4.3 A week and a half ago, we released old news now (even though it’s only my first beta for Qt 4.4, containing a lot of new features, like backends, Qt Concurrent, improved printing support, Aliens, a lot that Trolltech have blogging Qt/Embedded for Windows CE. It’s now the fifth platform that Qt supports, after X11, Windows, Mac and Embedded Linux (QWS). It’s the result of a year and a half of work done mostly by the Trolltech Berlin office, tr...
09.03.2008 Marcus Hanwell (cryos): Avogadro 0.6.1 Released
I am pleased to announce that I tagged and released OpenBabel and felt I should offer some explanation. Many of the features exposed in Avogadro use functions and structures in OpenBabel. I myself was quite heavily involved in improving OpenBabel's support for Gaussian cube files and the cube format so that we could load and display orbitals for example. As such we often add new features or fix bugs in OpenBabel trunk and so a new release of OpenBabel must be used in order for everything to work. There are already ebuilds for this latest version in the
14.03.2008 Danny Kukawka: HAL: v0.5.11-RC1 released
I've released some hours ago the first release candidate of HAL v0.5.11 and a snapshot of hal-info (20080313). You can get the sources here:http://hal.freedesktop.org/releases/hal-info-20080313.tar.gzFor more about the changes since the last HAL version (released 2007-10-12) and the last offical released hal-info package (released 2007-12-12) can you find hal-beta openSUSE Buildservice Repository (named as git snaphot to prevent problems with update packages later). Please test the packages heavily and carefully. Please report bugs (no features get included until the final version, as already a...
08.10.2008 Adriaan de Groot (adridg): Spring, Summer, Winter and Fall
[[ Yes, it's Violent Femmes Reference Time again! ]] I've gone and set up some Mercurial repositories and clones and whatnot now, some of which are publicly accessible, some which are local to my workstation, and somewhat to my surprise I can see the season's cycle [[ XTC reference time! ]] that Aaron, Dirk and Sebas talked about show up in a fairly natural fashion. And I've come up with another mixed metaphor, that development life is a highway [[ Tom Petty? ]] and you can ride it all night long, but there must be some way to get out .. nah. I'll just explain later. The top three repositor...
18.03.2008 Danny Kukawka: HAL: v0.5.11-RC2 released
Due to problems with the 'parallel event processing'-patches I've opened a branch for hal v0.5.11. We reverted the relevant changes in this branch and added some patches from the list.I've decided to stretch the announced release plan with a RC2 to get some time or testing. At the moment I plan to release the final 0.5.11 until Friday (2008-03-21) if there are no new critical bugs. You can download the snapshots here:http://hal.freedesktop.org/releases/hal-0.5.11rc2.tar.gzFor openSUSE (Factory/11.0) you can find packages in my email. Please test the packages carefully and report bugs to the HAL...
01.08.2012 Amarok 2.6 Release Candidate is out!
Are you waiting impatiently for KDE 4.9? Warm-up your compilers with Amarok 2.6-RC that has been released just now! There have been a couple of bigger fixes since Beta 1, so we want to make sure that nothing hits your grandma in 2.6 final. Give it a good testing and report possible bugs to Bugzilla as usual. Thanks!
