QRegExp + QStringLiteral = crash at exit

System & Utilities

QRegExp will cache the string in a Q_GLOBAL_STATIC variable, and remember that because it's a QStringLiteral , it has it's data in .rodata of your KDE library . When you exit the application, your KDE library gets unloaded then QtCore get unloaded.

02.01.2009 Simon St James (SSJ_GZ): Khrooty4Daily - Highly Experimental!
Experiment - Khrooty4DailyNot much feedback here (but thanks to those wo did reply :)), but, hey - let's give it a go anyway!I've cleaned up and uploaded a copy of Khrooty4Daily which you can find here. A few notes before people download it:I'm going in completely blind here, and have no idea if this will work across distros - it could easily simple fail for most people at the first hurdle.A chroot is not as insulated as a VM - in particular, processes started in the chroot are not separated from those started outside the chroot.Again unlike a VM, it's possible for apps in a chrooted environme...
22.03.2010 Stephen Kelly (steveire): Proxy models are really really great (They crash!)
Developments are ongoing in the quest for better testing methods for proxy models. I wrote before about testing a proxy model by visual inspection in the proxymodeltestapp. For identifying the sources of issues this has generally worked really well, but the involvement of human interaction means that it doesn’t scale and is error prone. Unit testing fares better in that regard because they can be run automatically without a human operator or observer, are faster than unit testing and are a persistent test for regressions so they allow for broad refactoring if needed for performance reaso...
11.03.2008 Holger Freyther (zecke): QtWebKit, Illume and Diversity
I'm writing this on one of these roundtrips when waiting for the Qtopia buildsystem to finish. I changed the mediaengine from helix to gstreamer, this means in one library another implementation gets compiled and the library is linked, maybe the other part of Qtopia needs relinking after it and that would be fine. The truth is, I switch the engine now configure of Qt desktop, Qt target and Qtopia is ran and I'm compiling Qt for the desktop, Qt for the desktop and the Qtopia libraries and applications from scratch. If anyone knows how to stop these stupidity and get me acceptable roundtrips tim...
03.05.2010 Christophe Olinger (binarylooks): Plasma Media Center Status report and introduction
Dear KDE friends and family, My name is Christophe Olinger aka binarylooks and I am a lurker….I mean, I was a lurker. Since the KDE 4.0 times I have been following KDE on mailing lists and blogs and recently also on irc with this constant feeling of awe and wonder about the ever evolving quality and beauty of the KDE desktop and its associated applications. I sometimes ranted about small things like bigger album covers for amarok or why the hack is there no sound in my flash video in rekonq. Some of the replies were of the shut up or contribute variant (righteously so) and I mostly follo...
28.11.2013 Calligra 2.7.5 Released
The Calligra team has released version 2.7.5, the fourth of the bugfix releases of the Calligra Suite, and Calligra Active in the 2.7 series. This release contains a few important bug fixes to 2.7.4 and we recommend everybody to update. Bugfixes in This Release Here is an overview of the most important fixes. There are several others that are not mentioned here. Common Fix bug 326158: the text color in the modebox tab icons were not drawn accoring to style. Make spellchinking work with more dictionaries. Fix bug 290999: make sure we erase an old selection in another textshape whenever we ma...
09.05.2010 Stephen Kelly (steveire): Grantlee v0.1.1 now available
I’ve just made a new version of Grantlee available for download. This release contains two minor fixes and one workaround for a bug (or feature?) in WebKit. I noticed when running Grantlee unit tests against Qt4.7 that they were segfaulting on exit if they used scriptable tags. After a debugging session I’d narrowed it down to just creating a QScriptEngine in a plugin will cause a crash. Qt4.6 didn’t show the same behavior, so I thought there would be no more for me to do. Unfortunately the segfault was caused by the fact that JavaScriptCore in WebKit was not designed to be l...
01.05.2010 Michael Pyne (mpyne): Implementing a shared cache: Part 2
In my last post, I gave some background on what a shared-memory cache is, and how KDE already uses one (KPixmapCache) to save memory and make the desktop more efficient. I also noted how the current implementation leaves some things to be desired, and hinted at a new implementation I was working on. In this second part, I’ll discuss some of the basic design principles of the new class, which I called KSharedDataCache. Why a new class? If you didn’t read Part 1, you may be wondering why I don’t just fix the current implementation, KPixmapCache, instead of writing new code. It&...
10.11.2015 Amarok is slowly catching up
I was previously working on Macaw-Movies (already in the KDE Community) and, after a while, I felt really alone and wasn’t so sure if a movie organizer still made sense in this all-connected time, where you can stream whatever you are interested in. I finally went to the Amarok guys, cloned the source and began to help to port it to the Frameworks. The plan Aroonav (roguedragon) did his GSoC on this topic [1]. And I catch up at the end of August. What is the plan? In theory it was this: Remove all KDELibs from the dependencies Port the CMakeLists.txt Get to 100% of build Start the prog...
28.03.2016 Yokadi 1.0.2
Today I released 1.0.2 of Yokadi, the command-line todo list, it comes with a few fixes: Use a more portable way to get the terminal size. This makes it possible to use Yokadi inside Android terminal emulators like Termux Sometimes the task lock used to prevent editing the same task description from multiple Yokadi instances was not correctly released Deleting a keyword from the database caused a crash when a t_list returned tasks which previously contained this keyword Download it or install it with pip3 install yokadi.
13.06.2016 Debian: KDE: Reproducible Builds week 3, Randa Platforms Equals Busy times!
Debian: I am a smidgen late on post due to travel, sorry! choqok: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=825322 For this I was able to come up with a patch for kconfig_compiler to encode generated files to utf-8. Review request is here: https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/128102/ This has been approved and I will be pushing it as soon as I patch the qt5 frameworks version. kxmlgui: WIP this has been a steep learning curve, according to the notes it was an easy embedded kernel version, that was not the case! After grueling hours of trying to sort out randomness in debug output I finall...
